| My DD just turned one! We got through a case of severe PE and delivered at 36 weeks. After her birth, I quickly lost about 20 lbs of what had to be a lot of water. However, despite some moderate effort, I am still hanging on to another 20 lbs. I am still slightly edematous (I have been beating myself up over being overweight this long, and finally had my mom point out to me that some swelling is present). I saw my GP, and he did a urinalysis that showed slight proteins. Bloodwork was normal. He prescribed Lasix pending my lab results. Anyone else have long-term lingering symptoms? Anything help? I have been exercising 3-4x/week for an hour, eating lots of fruit and vegetables... I made a pre-conception appt. with my OB/GYN for next Mon. to discuss all of this, figure out how to get healthy, wondering about my risk if I were to get pregnant again. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience! TIA! |

Sorry you are dealing with this. I haven't dealt with post-partum swelling myself, but have experienced inappropriate weight gain and difficulty losing weight when hypothyroid.
I also know one person who had bloating a symptom of possible celiac- she looked 5 months pregnant even though she was not. (She has the genetic markers associated with celiac and all her symptoms went away on a gluten free diet).
Heart and kidney issues can also cause swelling, but it sounds like your doc is checking you for that?
