Well ladies we have the green light to TTC. I do have a huge conflict and I don't know what to do. I did not test positive for any thrombophilias' that I was tested for BUT my OB said today that there is so many out there. My Internist highly suggested I use Lovenox in my next pregnancy. My issue is this, I had HELLP/pre-e/PIH at 20+1. I did test positive for LA the day I delivered but now a year out and several thromb. tests' later, I am still negative. If I use Lovenox and it makes my platelets drop, that could mask HELLP, right? How would my dr be able to diffinterate between the 2? I know EL and H is also a indicator but what if the LP is just the beginning? What would you ladies do? My dr is leaving it up to me, she is telling me the pros and cons but the ultimate decision is up to me. Have any of you ladies tested negative for thrombophilias' yet used Lovenox/Heparin in your subsequent pregnancies? How did your pregnancy go? Any complications? I know there is complications with blood thinners but I don't know what to do, please yall help me sort through this :/
My medication will be: Levothyroxine LDA Calcium Magnesium Oxide

I'll be on lovenox my next pregnancy, I think. My MFM#1 wanted me to do it, but I'm meeting a new MFM in a couple weeks (not because I don't like MFM #1 but I don't like her hospital/NICU.)
I'm really not that worried about them being able to identify HELLP because next time I'd refuse delivery anyway unless we were at a decent gestational age or there are concerns about the baby being okay.
The only complication I worry about with blood thinners is the prospect of miscarrying. That's why most doctors don't have it started until 6 wks/heartbeat.
Good luck with your decision and TTC. |

Thanks Angie. If you are going into HELLP, you definitley NEED to be delivered, HELLP is fatal! If you put off delivery because of the gestational age then that puts you at further risk of serious complications or death! Have you discussed this with your doctor???? I had HELLP and almost died from it so if I show any signs of it again, I am being delivered asap, regardless of gestational age and that is pretty much the system. Miscarriage rate is high with any blood thinner and I realize that. We have been through 2 m/cs' and then Darren and m/c are easy to handle but still hard. Thanks for the help! |

| I was diagnosed with antiphospolipid antibody elevation in my 5th week. My specialit put me on Lovenox from then on to the end of my pregnancy. I delivered yesterday with no complications. They had me switch to heparin 36 hours before delivery. |
